Havanese: Nature and character of dogs

The Havanese is a cute little dog with a friendly, exuberant character. He always seems to be in a good mood, loves to romp around and play, and is insanely fond of being with his humans.

It’s no wonder that the Havanese is such a popular family dog: he captivates with his bright personality and lots of cheerfulness, and has a nice, never-boring nature. In addition, he brings a huge portion of love and friendliness, which makes living with him a joy.

Havanese: small dog, fine character

The Havanese is very good in a family. He is affectionate, loves to be as close as possible to his owners and get a lot of attention from them. Moreover, he is a real family pet, but he also likes to be taken seriously. Therefore, treat him well, but without coddling him.

The little four-legged friend has a very child-friendly nature and is with his joie de vivre a great play partner for them – but of course you should not treat him roughly, so already be big and sensitive enough to handle the dog gently.

Boredom? Not with the Havanese

Romping, playing and cuddling is by far not all that the dear, fluffy Havanese enjoys. He is also extremely adaptive and can even learn tricks. His curiosity also predestines him for this. Because the playful dog loves to learn and has neither a dominant, nor a too temperamental nature, he is of course easy to train – the prerequisite for this is his species-appropriate attitude and that he is treated exactly as he is.

Does the Havanese suit me?

Thanks to its many positive characteristics, the Havanese is an excellent match for a wide variety of owners. Because he is so adaptable, he feels at home in families as well as with seniors or in single households if he is cared for and kept in a manner appropriate to his species. The important thing is that you provide the mental exercise that this clever little guy needs. Since he needs little space compared to other dog breeds, he can also be kept in small apartments, which predestines him as a city dog.

In addition, he barks rather rarely and is usually not perceived as a nuisance by neighbors. If you buy a Havanese, however, you should have enough time for the lovable and uncomplicated partner, so that he is not lonely. Of course, it is best to have a conspecific in the household. Before buying, also find out about the care requirements – so the dog’s coat must be brushed twice a week at best and also the eyes cleaned more often once.
