Winter vacation with dog: On into the snow fun
Are you frolicking in the snow with your four-legged friend? This is not only possible at home, but a winter vacation with a dog can become an unforgettable pleasure for both of you – provided that you make sure that the vacation trip is tailored to your dog’s needs.
The summer vacation can be enjoyed together with the dog, also in winter, you can go on a trip with your pet. However, it is essential to plan the winter vacation properly, then there are no limits to the winter fun in the mountains, in the forest, or on the coast.
Winter vacation with dog: where to go?
Small, quieter winter resorts are ideal for enjoying the winter with the dog. Away from the hustle and bustle of the slopes and the crowded tourist destinations, the vacation is much more relaxed for you and your four-legged friend. As far as accommodation is concerned, ski lodges, vacation homes, or vacation apartments, where dogs are allowed, naturally offer you the most space. In the meantime, however, some hotels specialize in vacationers with dogs. Some even provide a care service that takes care of your dog while on the ski slopes.
Fun together in the snow
If you plan a ski vacation with steep downhill runs or snowboarding in the high mountains, the winter vacation will bring little joy to your four-legged friend. After all, a dog has no business on the slopes for safety reasons, and waiting for hours in the cottage or hotel room is also not excellent for your faithful companion. In contrast, cross-country skiing is ideal for winter sports, even when accompanied by a dog. The prerequisite is that the dog does not interfere with other skiers, does not run within the groomed trail, or poach.
In some ski areas, there are even unique dog trails. If you are not on skis, your dog will also enjoy long winter walks – but make sure that your dog does not start to freeze during all outdoor activities. If he starts to shiver, you should immediately return to the warm vacation quarters.
